Spring in Wanaka is from September 1st – November 30th and offers a magnitude of beautiful seasonal scenery and plenty of things to do.
Trees are starting to bud while leaves, pastures and the mountains sides begin to green up and look lush. This provides a stunning contrast to the lake and snow-capped mountain back drop. If you’re up early enough, the sun rise in spring can often provide a ‘heaven like’ start the morning. It’s worth setting the alarm!
If you are looking for activities, there are a variety of options. Spring skiing is a highlight, with the ski resorts generally open until the start of October. Treble Cone and Cardrona Resorts both generally have great snow in September, with conditions firm at first and softening as the day warms up.
If skiing is not your thing or your taking a day off, there is jet boating, helicopter flights, 4WD scenic and farm tours, lake cruises, and sky diving to just name a few. Temperatures are also creeping up from the cold winter, and spring days can get up to a beauty 20 or so degrees Celsius – that’s t-shirt and shorts! These days become far more common moving into November with summer is just around the corner.
Spring in Wanaka just fabulous, and with its all its beauty and things to do… you may as well stay a week or even two!
