The Lake Cruise and Island Walk is a half day guided trip that includes a lake cruise across the beautiful Lake Wanaka to Mou Waho Island and a guided nature walk. You will enjoy morning or afternoon tea at the top of the island and encounter New Zealand native birds.
Mou Waho is a remote and magical island that sits in the middle of Lake Wanaka. A protected nature reserve, it is home to the rare Buff Weka, a flightless native bird that has been extinct on the mainland since the 1920’s. Guests will enjoy listening to the vibrant birdsong on the one hour return walk. At the top, the islands secret is revealed – a lake on top of the island! Take in the magnificent views looking out across Lake Wanaka and the surrounding Southern Alps. You will also help to plant a native tree on the island as part of this eco adventure. Our Lake Cruise with Island Walk is one of the best activities to do in Wanaka.
